Overtime Thoughts - 2/25

Once again, thanks to everyone who listened to our inaugural show last night! It was a lot of fun to do and we can't wait to do it again next Tuesday. Also, please help the show grow by telling everyone you know about it.

So last night, we talked about how UK had a game tonight. I guess they forgot. Because they sure as heck did not show up to play in Columbia, SC as they got hammered by the Gamecocks 77-59. Jodie Meeks scored 18 and Patrick Patterson had 28 points. But like like we were saying last night, someone else needs to step up. Only three other Wildcats scored and the highest scorer of those three was Darius Miller with 5 points. That's not going to cut it. South Carolina's Devan Downey led the Gamecocks with 21 points.

There was a HUGE Big East game tonight in Milwaukee, WI as the #10 Marquette Golden Eagles faced off against the #2 UCONN Huskies. UCONN pulled ahead at the end and won 93-82. Marquette suffered a big blow in the first half when they lost PG Dominic James for the season with a broken bone in his foot. A.J. Price went off for 36 points.

Other scores from around the Big East:
#12 Villanova squeaked one out over DePaul 74-72
Notre Dame beat Rutgers 70-65
Seton Hall took down South Florida 75-60

From around the top 25:
#7 Duke beat Maryland 78-67
#8 Missouri killed Kansas State 94-74
#9 Michigan State beat Iowa 62-54
Virginia Tech upset #13 Clemson 80-77
#24 Texas held off Texas Tech 87-81

Your Louisville baseball team beat Eastern Kentucky 9-8 on a walk-off single by Adam Duvall. Preseason National Player of the Year Chris Dominguez was 3-5 with 4 RBI and a homer shy of a cycle.

New York Giants' RB Brandon Jacobs signed a 4-year, $25 million extension today.

After cutting 169 jobs, NFL commish Roger Goodell will take a 20% pay cut from his $11 million salary he earned this fiscal year.

The first day of spring training games was today. Check here for a scoreboard of all the games from the Grapefruit and Cactus Leagues.

The Los Angeles Dodgers offered Manny Ramirez yet another contract. This one, Manny would receive $25 million this year with a player option in 2010 that would be worth $20 million.

Tiger Woods beat Brendan Jones 3 and 2 in the first round of the WGC-Accenture Match Play Tournament today.

1 comment:

  1. Tiger Woods got beat by Tim Clark today 4&2. Still pleased with his knee, he said in a post round interview, "I just sucked today, Justin is right to hate me and I'm going to give up golf and turn over my career earnings to him."
